Our top picks for your weekend
Formula 1 in Mexico City is all about pure passion, incredible atmosphere and moments you’ll never forget. If you’ve already got your Formula 1 Mexico Tickets, get ready for a weekend full of adrenaline, colour and culinary highlights. Mexico City is loud, vibrant and unbeatable when it comes to food, so make the most of the Grand Prix to explore what’s happening off track, too.
Action & Entertainment Right at the Track
At the Mexican Grand Prix, the party isn’t just on the track, the whole Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez comes to life. The Fanzone is packed with F1 simulators, pit-stop challenges, driver Q&As and more – perfect for real racing fans. Inside the Foro Sol, live music, DJ sets and post-race concerts bring proper festival vibes. Massive screens mean you won’t miss a moment of the action, while over 50 food stalls serve up everything from tacos and churros to fresh seafood, pizza and ice-cold beer.
Lucha Libre & Beer Boats
Want to dive into local culture? Head to Arena México for an unforgettable night of Lucha Libre with masks, music and full-on showtime! It’s loud, wild and absolutely iconic. Prefer something a bit more laid-back but still totally authentic? Rent a colourful trajinera boat in Xochimilco and float down the canals with snacks, cold drinks and live mariachi bands. It’s the perfect way to ease into race weekend.
Roma & Condesa – Cafés, Cocktails & Nightlife
Roma Norte and La Condesa are the beating heart of modern Mexico City. Think creative street food meets stylish restaurants and buzzing bars. Grab tacos or tamales at Mercado Roma, try the legendary churros from El Moro or sip a cocktail at the award-winning Licorería Limantour – regularly ranked among the world’s top 10 bars. The streets here are full of life and energy, perfect for your post-race evenings. For even more food and activity tips, check out Tripadvisor for personalised recommendations.
Food Highlights You Shouldn’t Miss
Mexico City is a foodie’s dream. If you’re aiming for the very top, book early at Pujol or Quintonil, two of Latin America’s best restaurants. Fancy something a little more relaxed but just as delicious? Try Rosetta, Máximo Bistrot or Contramar, all known for their fantastic fresh seafood and vibrant flavours.
F1 Mexico schedule
The 2026 Mexico City Grand Prix takes place from 30 October to 1 November, with the main race kicking off around 14:00 local time on Sunday. Haven’t secured your F1 Mexico Tickets yet? Now’s the perfect time! You’re in for a weekend packed with energy and adrenaline at one of the highest-altitude circuits on the calendar.
From 08:00, the gates open. The Fanzone, food stalls, grandstands and plenty of action are ready and waiting for you.
The weekend follows the classic Formula 1 format: free practice kicks off on Friday, Qualifying takes centre stage on Saturday, and the big race goes down on Sunday, all at over 2,200 metres above sea level.
Please note: All times are in local time (CDT – Central Daylight Time), which is roughly 6 to 7 hours behind Europe. Final race times may change at short notice, so stay tuned, we’ll keep you updated as soon as the official schedule is confirmed.
Where to stay for the Mexican GP
Picking the right place to stay can make a big difference to your F1 weekend in Mexico City. The trendy neighbourhoods of Condesa and Roma Norte tick all the boxes: stylish, central and packed with amazing food spots. It’s the perfect combo of racing and lifestyle. The circuit is about 30 to 40 minutes away by metro or Uber.
Looking for something more exclusive? Head to Polanco. This upscale area is home to elegant hotels, fine dining and designer boutiques around Chapultepec Park, ideal if you’re after comfort and a bit of calm. Even from here, it’s just a 40-minute ride to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
Staying right next to the track, however, isn’t the best idea. The area is mostly industrial, lacks good dining options and tends to be quiet in the evenings. If you’re after good food, a vibrant atmosphere and a safer vibe, you’ll feel more at home in the city’s central districts.
Mexico City is a fascinating, lively metropolis, but like in any big city, a bit of street smarts goes a long way. Keep your backpack in front of you on the metro, and keep your phone and wallet close. Book taxis or Ubers via official apps or your hotel, and at night, it’s best to hop in a car rather than walk even in safe areas like Roma, Condesa or Polanco. That way, you can enjoy your Grand Prix weekend to the fullest and stay relaxed and safe throughout.
Tips for a stress-free journey
Already got your Tickets for the F1 Grand Prix in Mexico? Then it’s time to sort out the logistics for a smooth trip to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Here’s everything you need to know to get to the track hassle-free.
Arriving by plane
The closest airport is Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX), located just around 5 kilometres from the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
There are direct flights to Mexico City from many major European cities, as well as the US, Canada and across Latin America. Domestic connections are also excellent, making it easy if you’re planning to fly in from elsewhere in Mexico.
Once you’ve landed, you can reach the track or the city centre via the metro, metrobus, official taxis or ride-hailing services like Uber. If you’re staying in areas like Roma, Condesa or Polanco, expect travel times of 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic, though it can take longer during rush hour.
Metro & Metrobus – the easiest way
Mexico City’s metro is by far the quickest and cheapest way to get to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. The nearest stations are Velódromo, Ciudad Deportiva and Puebla, all on Line 9 (brown) and just a short walk from the track entrances.
Metro runs from 05:00 to 00:00 on weekdays, from 06:00 on Saturdays, and from 07:00 on Sundays. Trains are frequent, but expect large crowds over the Grand Prix weekend, especially before Qualifying and the main race, so give yourself some extra time.
The Metrobus is another great option. Line 2 (purple) stops at UPIICSA, El Rodeo and Iztacalco – all well-placed for getting to the circuit. Because the Metrobus runs on dedicated lanes, you’ll often get there quicker than by taxi or car.
Taxis, Uber & Didi – comfy but not always quick
Uber and Didi are reliable in Mexico City, but expect delays near the circuit due to road closures and diversions over the race weekend.
If you’re using a ride service, it’s best to get dropped off a few blocks away and walk the rest. Traffic is especially heavy on Sunday, so bring some patience.
Pro tip: combine the metro with a taxi or Uber to avoid the worst of the traffic; it’s usually much faster.
