Our top recommendations for your Canadian Grand Prix weekend

With your Formula 1 Montréal Tickets, you'll experience a circuit that rewards precision and punishes mistakes, including the infamous "Wall of Champions" at the final corner exit. With close walls and heavy braking zones, the circuit has challenged even the most experienced drivers, making F1 Canada an exciting race weekend.

Race-day atmosphere and Crescent Street Festival

Montréal truly comes alive on race weekend, with fans filling Crescent Street’s bars and taking the atmosphere to the next level. As the main hub for post-race celebrations, this is the place to be after the action on track. Even better, it’s just one metro stop away from the circuit, making it easy to go straight from racing to nightlife.

Since 1999, the Crescent Street Grand Prix Festival has transformed downtown into a vibrant open-air event. From 11 AM to 11 PM, live performances from top artists, DJ sets, driver appearances and autograph sessions keep the atmosphere going all day long. It’s where motorsport passion meets Montréal’s iconic nightlife.

But the festival has much more than just live entertainment. Experience a full weekend of interactive motorsport action right in the heart of the city. Expect a wide range of activities, including:

  • Racing simulators for a true driver experience
  • Race car displays up close
  • Pit stop challenges to test your skills
  • Interactive experiences for all fans

For its 25th anniversary in 2026, the festival expands beyond Crescent Street to de Maisonneuve Boulevard, creating more space, more activities and an even bigger stage setup across both streets. This makes the experience even more accessible and gives more fans the chance to be part of the action.

Where to stay during the Formula 1 Canada weekend

Whether you’re staying in Downtown Montréal or across the river in Longueuil, you’ll find plenty of hotels near the Montréal Grand Prix with quick and easy access to the circuit. Thanks to the city’s efficient metro system, you can stay close to the action while still enjoying Montréal’s vibrant atmosphere after the sessions.

Quartier des Spectacles – Right in the heart of Montréal

This central area is one of the best locations for your race weekend. From Berri-UQAM station, you can take the yellow line and reach Jean-Drapeau (the circuit) in just one stop. At the same time, you’re already in the centre of Montréal, surrounded by restaurants, bars and after-race activities.

  • One-stop metro ride to the circuit
  • Walking distance to nightlife & entertainment
  • Perfect for combining racing and city experience

Stay near Longueuil – Quick access to the Circuit

Located just across the river, Longueuil offers a more relaxed stay while staying perfectly connected. The area around Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke station is well-connected and close to local amenities, with a calmer atmosphere compared to the city centre. From here, it’s also just one stop on the yellow line to Jean-Drapeau.

  • One-stop metro ride to the circuit
  • Easy access to downtown via the same metro line
  • Ideal for a more relaxed stay with great transport links

Good to know

No matter which side you choose, the yellow metro line connects you quickly and reliably to the circuit, making both locations ideal for your Formula 1 weekend.

Tips for a stress-free journey

If you’re wondering about the best way to get to Formula 1 Montréal, the answer is simple. The Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, set within Parc Jean-Drapeau, offers a unique island location with fast and easy access from the city. This means you can focus on what really matters: the race weekend.

Closest airport to the circuit in Canada

For your race weekend, you’ll arrive via Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL). From the airport, it takes around 20 to 30 minutes by car to reach Montréal or connect to public transport heading towards the circuit.

Getting to the circuit by metro

The metro is the best way to get to Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve during race weekend.

From key stations such as Berri–UQAM and Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke, the yellow line takes you to Jean-Drapeau in just one stop. This direct connection makes getting there quick, reliable and stress-free.

  • Quick access to the circuit
  • No traffic delays
  • Easy connections across the city

Arriving by car

Driving to the circuit is generally not recommended.

There is no public parking available at the circuit, and access to the island is restricted during the event. Traffic around Montréal can also become very heavy, especially close to the track.

If you travel by car, it’s best to park outside the island and continue your journey by metro.
