F1 Belgian Grand Prix Tickets for one of the most beautiful race tracks in the world at Spa-Francorchamps

The Spa Francorchamps in Belgium is considered one of the most iconic circuits on the F1 calendar. The incredible fall and rise of Eau Rouge and Raidillon and the extremely fast left-hander Blanchimont: Spa is an exciting and demanding track. Before 1969, the Circuit Spa-Francorchamps was considered too fast and unsafe for a high-speed track. The Grand Prix was initially no longer held here for this reason. After various modifications, Formula 1 racing cars have been allowed to do their laps here again since 1983. And many decades later, you can be there live with your Formula 1 Spa Tickets! Discover the options and details of our Tickets and Travel Packages.

From 22 Kilometers to F1 Glory: The Evolution of Spa-Francorchamps

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit is extremely popular with drivers, attracting lots of iconic drivers to Belgium. After several breaks due to commercial problems, the circuit returned to the calendar in 2007. With a length of 7.004 kilometers, Spa-Francorchamps is the longest circuit on the racing calendar but used to be even bigger. Back then, the track ran 22 kilometers through the countryside, past farms and cow pastures. Alongside Monte Carlo and Suzuka, the hill and valley circuit in Spa is one of the drivers’ favourite tracks, mostly thanks to the challenging combinations of corners.

Thanks to Michael Schumacher's six victories, the circuit was described as the German's "living room," where he contested his first Grand Prix. Many fans from Germany always gather around the circuit due to its proximity to the border. Their slogan used to be: "Schumi, fries, beer - that's what we're here for!" They probably didn't like the perhaps best-overtaking maneuver in Formula 1 history, when Mika Häkkinen passed Schumacher on the Kemmel straight in 2000 by overtaking Ricardo Zonta on the other side.

Remembering Tragedy and Triumph: Spa-Francorchamps' Racing Legacy - with Formula 1 Spa Tickets

At Spa-Francorchamps, we have the typical Ardennes rainfalls. An entire weekend without a single drop of rain is a rarity on the circuit, which used to partly consist of public roads. As the circuit is located in the middle of a mountainous landscape, one part of the track can be wet while the drivers are treated to sunshine on another. Two corners, in particular, are considered breathtaking. One of these is the Eau Rouge, a hill that is approached at around 300 km/h. When the drivers have to turn in, the track leads steeply upwards, which makes the cars feel light. The Blanchimont is also well-known, a 300 km/h left-hand bend where it is better not to lose grip due to the limited run-off areas. However, thanks to the downsizing of Formula 1 engines, both Eau Rouge and Blanchimont are now much easier to take, at least in the dry.

In recent years, the focus has increasingly shifted to the Pouhon bend, which is now driven at the limit. This was not the case on 19 June 1960, when two British drivers, Chris Bristow and Alan Stacey, had a fatal accident within a few minutes of each other and within sight of each other on a wet track. Stefan Bellof also lost his life in Spa - in the Eau Rouge, to be precise - but not in a Formula 1 race, but in a sports car race.
