Tips for a smooth journey to Brno
To kick off your Brno weekend without stress, here’s a quick overview of the best ways to get to the circuit. Whether you’re flying in, driving yourself or using public transport, the track is easy to reach and often simpler than you might think.
Flying to Brno
Václav Havel Airport in Prague (PRG) is one of the most convenient options. It’s well connected to the city centre, with trains and buses taking around 25 to 35 minutes. From there, it’s an easy train ride to Brno that takes roughly two and a half hours and runs several times a day. Another popular choice is the yellow RegioJet bus, which runs directly from the airport to Brno. It’s comfortable, budget-friendly and ideal for a smooth journey.
You can also fly into Brno-Turany Airport (BRQ). While there are fewer flight options, the city centre is just 15 to 20 minutes away by taxi, Bolt or Uber. Buses also operate from the airport, which is a great option if you’re not renting a car and want a straightforward transfer into town.
Driving to the circuit
Travelling by car or motorbike gives you maximum flexibility. The Automotodrom Brno is located to the west of the city and can be easily reached via the D1 motorway (Ostrovačice exit).
A few useful tips for the race weekend:
- Leave yourself extra time as traffic near the circuit can get heavy.
- Follow the official event signs rather than relying on navigation apps.
- Parking areas near the circuit are clearly marked. If you’re arriving on a motorbike, it’s usually easy to find a spot.
Public transport options
Brno has great public transport links and free shuttle buses for fans make getting to the track simple.
The Bus Line C runs between Nemocnice Bohunice and the Automotodrom Brno. It stops at Svážná, Pražská, Troubsko, Veselka, Popůvky, Vintrovna and Kývalka, making it a great option if you’re staying in the city centre. You can get to Nemocnice Bohunice easily by taking tram line P6, for example from Královo Pole, Česká or Mendlovo náměstí.
The Circle Bus Line P runs a loop between the circuit, Popůvky and Žebětín. This one’s especially handy if your accommodation is close to the track.
Both bus lines are free and run regularly throughout the race weekend. Top tip: It’s worth checking the latest schedules before you travel, as timings may vary depending on the day of the event.
You can also reach Brno easily by train or long-distance coach. There are many connections from Germany, often via Prague, Vienna or Bratislava. RegioJet and České dráhy (ČD) offer frequent and affordable services. For many fans, the train is the most relaxed choice, with no traffic, no need to park and a direct arrival right in the city centre.
To keep things easy, build in a bit of extra time and check timetables in advance so everything goes to plan.
Must-have apps for your race weekend
To help you find your way around Brno and enjoy your race weekend to the fullest, a few practical apps can make all the difference. From navigation and getting around to tickets and food spots. These apps are the most commonly used in Czechia and especially in Brno, and they’ll make planning your weekend much easier.
