Tips for your race weekend
Mugello brings the high-speed action, and Tuscany delivers the perfect vibe to match. The circuit is tucked away in Scarperia e San Piero, right in the hills surrounding Florence, one of the most stunning locations on the MotoGP calendar. From panoramic viewpoints and authentic Tuscan food to a sunset drink or simply the post‑race atmosphere, this is where your race weekend becomes unforgettable.
Florence after the race – laid-back & stylish
Just about an hour from the Mugello Circuit, Florence is the perfect blend of buzzing city vibes and a chilled-out after-race experience. The drive takes you through Tuscany’s rolling hills, already a highlight, before the city welcomes you with plenty of variety.
Think sunset drinks on a rooftop bar, a stroll across the iconic Ponte Vecchio or a relaxed evening in the historic old town. Fancy keeping it casual? Grab an Aperol and kick back on Piazza della Signoria. Want more? Explore the bars, restaurants and scenic spots around the historic centre. It’s the ideal wind-down after a day full of adrenaline.
Eat like a local in and around Florence
Tuscany’s culinary scene is something special, perfect for turning your race weekend into a highlight even away from the track. From scenic dinners to post-race Aperitivo vibes, here are some spots you’ll definitely want to check out.
A Bistecca alla Fiorentina at Trattoria dall’Oste is an absolute classic. Or fancy a Panino al Lampredotto from the iconic Nerbone? Head to Mercato Centrale for a foodie heaven with Italian specialities under one roof – from Pici all’aglione to fresh Panzanella. For drinks with a view, SE·STO on Arno is the go-to rooftop after a high-octane day at the circuit.

How to get to the Mugello circuit and where to park
Arriving by car, motorbike, train, plane or bus? Here’s everything you need for a smooth journey and a relaxed start to your race weekend.
By car or motorbike: the best routes to the track
Driving your own vehicle gives you maximum flexibility, especially if you’re coming from places like Florence or Bologna. Here’s how to reach the Mugello Circuit stress-free:
From Florence
Take the A1 northbound and exit at Barberino di Mugello. From there, simply follow the signs to the circuit. The drive takes around an hour, depending on traffic, and is a popular route for fans staying in Florence or those who’ve booked a Travel Package.
From Bologna
Hop on the A1 heading south and also exit at Barberino di Mugello. For a scenic detour, take the winding Raticosa Pass. Depending on your starting point and race-day traffic, allow 1.5 to 2 hours.
Want a quick overview? Simply search for Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello in Google Maps and follow the directions.
Parking at the circuit – what you need to know
There are designated parking areas for cars, motorbikes and campervans around the circuit. Motorbikes usually park for free in marked zones. The closer to the action, the more in demand – so if you’re arriving by car or camper, it’s best to get there early. Parking fees apply for cars and campers, depending on the location.
You’ll find car parks accessible via several entrances: 21 areas near Palagio and Scarperia, and another five around Luco and Arrabbiata. Motorbikes over 100cc can park for free in the Pelouse zones – just make sure your bike is approved and over 100cc.
From Florence to Mugello – by train & bus
No car? No problem. Take a regional train from Firenze Santa Maria Novella station (abbreviated Firenze SMN on most train schedules) to San Piero a Sieve or Borgo San Lorenzo. From there, transfer onto a shuttle bus or take a short taxi ride to the circuit.
Alternatively, a bus from Autolinee Toscane will take you to the Scarperia Cimitero stop – it’s about a 25-minute walk to the circuit from there. Buses depart from Florence at the bus depot right next to Santa Maria Novella train station.
Flying in – the closest airports
The quickest way to get to Mugello is via Florence Airport (FLR), just 20 to 30 minutes to the city centre by tram (Line T2), taxi, or hire car. From there, follow the public transport tips above.
Alternatively, you can fly to Pisa (PSA), around 3 hours away by train and bus. Ideal if you want to turn your race weekend into a full-on Tuscany road trip.
