DTM Spielberg 2026: a season opener to remember

The 2026 race weekend marked the series' first season opener at the Red Bull Ring, drawing plenty of fans and an electric atmosphere. Home fans had plenty to cheer for when Austrian driver Thomas Preining won Saturday's race ahead of fellow Austrian Lucas Auer, before Maro Engel took Sunday's win with Auer completing the podium in third.

DTM Spielberg tickets for 2027 are not yet available, but you can sign up for early bird notifications to be the first to know when the sale starts. Registering gives you a better chance of securing your preferred ticket category for the season opener at the Red Bull Ring.

Signing up also gives you more time to plan the rest of your race weekend once sales go live. With your tickets sorted early, you can arrange your travel and hotel reservations well in advance and look forward to a smooth weekend in Austria.

The DTM Spielberg weekend takes place from Friday, 23rd April to Sunday, 25th April 2027. With your DTM Spielberg tickets secured, you can look forward to three days of motorsport action, from the first Friday sessions to the two main DTM races.

The Red Bull Ring is located in Spielberg, Styria. Staying in Spielberg itself is the most convenient choice if you want to be as close as possible to the circuit on race weekend. However, if accommodation is limited or you want to explore, there are several nearby towns that are great for your DTM race weekend. Here are a few of our suggestions:

• Zeltweg: the next closest town to the circuit, after Spielberg
• Knittelfeld: a nearby town to Spielberg and a handy base for the race weekend
• Fohnsdorf: a nearby town with additional accommodation choices within easy reach
• Judenburg: a little further from the circuit, but well connected on race weekend via regular shuttle buses to the Red Bull Ring
• Graz: the largest city in the region, with a wider selection of hotels, restaurants and attractions a longer drive away

A little preparation goes a long way at the Red Bull Ring, from booking your travel early to knowing exactly how you'll reach the circuit on race day. Here's everything you need to know:

Flying in – closest airport

Flying is a convenient option if you’re travelling to the DTM Spielberg race from abroad. Graz Airport (GRZ) is approximately 75 km from the Red Bull Ring.

Arriving by car or motorcycle

Driving to the Red Bull Ring (Street 1, 8724 Spielberg, Austria) gives you plenty of flexibility, especially if you’re staying in Spielberg or one of the surrounding towns. The S36 is the main road towards Spielberg and the circuit.

Cars can park at the P4 to P7 open parking areas, while motorcycles can park at the Westschleife. Parking opens from 07:00 and is within walking distance of the circuit.

Arriving by public transport

Travelling by train is a straightforward way to reach the Red Bull Ring. Knittelfeld Hbf is generally the most practical station for race weekend, with shuttle buses connecting the station to the circuit, around 7 km away.

• From Graz: trains from Graz Hbf to Knittelfeld generally run around once an hour, with the journey taking approximately 90 minutes.
• From Knittelfeld to the Red Bull Ring: During the event, shuttle buses run between Knittelfeld and the circuit, making it easier to complete the final part of your journey without a car.
