Vienna (VIE) and Graz (GRZ) are the most common airports when heading to the F1 in Spielberg. Vienna offers more direct flights and low-cost airlines – ideal if you're flexible with your travel dates. But if you're looking for the Austrian Grand Prix's nearest airport, Graz Airport is your best option. Located just around 75 kilometres from the Red Bull Ring, it’s only about an hour’s drive and perfect for a smooth, hassle-free journey.

How to get to the Red Bull Ring by car

The circuit is right in the heart of Styria – and if you’re coming by car, a bit of planning can save you time and hassle. The track is well connected, but the key is to set off early. No matter where you’re coming from, just type “Red Bull Ring Str. 1, 8724 Spielberg” into your sat nav and you’re good to go! From the S36 motorway, take exit 24 “Zeltweg Ost / Spielberg”, then follow the L545 and Spielbergerstraße. After a short while, turn right into Red Bull Straße – that takes you straight to the car parks.

Coming from Graz? You’ve got two main routes: via the A9 (through Gleinalm Tunnel – toll road!) and the S36, or via the A2 and B78 towards Zeltweg. Heads-up: navigation apps can get glitchy on race weekends – sometimes it’s better to just follow the road signs.

Austrian Grand Prix Parking

How to get to the Red Bull Ring by train & bus

Planning to travel by train? No worries – getting to the F1 in Spielberg is straightforward. The closest station is Zeltweg, around 5 km from the circuit. However, we recommend Knittelfeld – about 7 km away – with direct bus connections to the Red Bull Ring. During race weekend, free shuttle buses run regularly between Knittelfeld train station, Judenburg bus station and the circuit – hassle-free and super convenient.

Getting from Vienna to the Red Bull Ring:

From Vienna (Hauptbahnhof or Meidling), you can reach Knittelfeld in about 2.5 hours. From there, a shuttle will take you straight to the track. Pro tip: check the ÖBB app in advance, as there may be construction works around the F1 weekend.

Getting from Graz to the Red Bull Ring:

From Graz, it’s roughly a 1.5-hour trip with one change in Bruck/Mur. And again – the shuttle will take you the rest of the way, no stress.

Getting from Salzburg to the Red Bull Ring:

Coming from Salzburg takes a bit longer – there are no direct trains, so depending on the connection, the journey will take around 3.5 to 4.5 hours with transfers.

You can also hop on an Eventbus, which takes you directly to the venue from all across Austria – including from Vienna, Salzburg, Tyrol, Styria and many more regions. These buses drop you off right at the entrance to the Red Bull Ring.
