Silverstone's Grand Prix circuit: a long-time host to the MotoGP series

The Silverstone Grand Prix circuit was originally an airfield which was no longer needed after the end of World War II. The track layout used to be defined by the former runways, so it was characterised by long straights and narrow curves. Over time the layout has changed considerably, and the track now boasts eighteen curves. The total length of the circuit is 5.9 kilometres and its longest straight is 770 metres long.
